International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical

Experience (IASTE) - www.iaste.org

Focused on undergrads in technical fields such as engineering and computing.

This program is supported by the UN and offers short term work exchanges

and internships in over 80 countries around the world.

 

CDS International - www.cdsintl.org

A non-profit organization geared towards international practical training,

fellowship and placement opportunities for young professionals and students.

Serves over 50 countries.

 

US State Department - www.state.gov

Series of summer and longer internships, mostly unpaid. Very competitive.

Rotary International - www.rotary.org

largest scholarship program for US students to study aboard. Visit their web

site to learn how to get involved in the organization and apply for the

scholarships.

 

Center for Study Abroad: www.centerforstudyabroad.com

Private non-profit organization offering study abroad programs (not

necessarily for academic credit) in 20 countries. Cheaper than other privately

offered programs. The programs are not only for college students but also for

working adults, retirees, and other non-students.

 

Brethren Colleges Abroad - www.bcanet.org

Organizes over 100 study abroad programs via 20 academic study centers in

17 countries.

 

Global Experiences - www.globalexperiences.com

Private company offering combination study and internship programs,

including marketing and business-oriented courses. Limited number of

countries, and a guaranteed work placement. Pricey.

 

British Universities North America Club (BUNAC) - www.bunac.com

Offer short term visas for work in “vacation style” jobs such as bartending or

au-pairing.

 

Center for International Education Exchange (CIEE) - www.ciee.org

In addition to study abroad programs, CIEE also offers short term work visas

for Australia, New Zealand, Canada, France, Ireland and Germany. Check

InterExchange - www.interexchange.org

Non-profit organization offering a variety of work and internship placements

for students and non-students, in teaching, au pairing and volunteer work.

 

CDS International - www.cdsintl.org

Paid internships in Germany. Web site has listing of new internship

opportunities and background information on the various other fellowships

and scholarships they offer.

 

International Cooperative Education - www.icemenlo.com

Paid summer internships in a handful of European countries. Language

fluency required in specific languages for some positions.
